What We Do Series: LADOT’s Communications Office
LADOT’s Communication Office works under the direction of Public Information Director II,
Bruce Gillman. He manages a multi-talented team of eight which consists of a principal project
coordinator; two Engineering Associates handling media relations, speaking engagements and
press conferences; a video/photographer; one Parking Enforcement and Traffic Control
Sergeant part-time; and three USC student interns. This group is responsible for maintaining
and improving the department’s image as well as answering calls from the public and news
media. The annual report, weekly briefs, department newsletter, as well as management of
LADOT’s main website fall under the many responsibilities that this group tackles on a daily
basis.

Last week, Councilmember Mitchell Englander, CD 12, along with LADOT’s Senior
Transportation Engineer Brian Gallagher, unveiled new signage on Chatsworth Street to
support ‘Food Truck Friday’s' in Granada Hills.
Tactical Urbanism Movement
Assistant Pedestrian Coordinator, Valerie Watson, participated as a panelist on the Tactical
Urbanism Movement: Short-term Action for Long-term Change webinar. The goal of this
webinar was to provide a look into the background of the movement and how practitioners
employ tactical urbanism. Click here for more information on the discussion. Wikipedia
